If you are a parent of a college-bound student who happens, as most parents do, to spend lots of time on Facebook, you probably already know about the Paying For College 101 group. I follow the group and enjoy answering questions within my areas of expertise, even though some followers HATE test prep professionals. No accounting for taste with some people, right?
Earlier today, someone asked the question, “Where can our teenagers take practice SAT's online?” That’s definitely in my wheelhouse, so here’s the response:
College Board's Bluebook app is the platform on which students take the SAT, PSAT, and even most APs this spring. The app also provides access to the free practice tests College Board offers. Right now, there are 2 PSATs and 6 SATs, but that number will increase over the next couple of months.
All that said, students should be very careful about using the practice tests towards the end rather than beginning of their prep. There are a number of excellent third-party practice SAT providers, but none of them can match official SAT tests as the best representation of what students will see on test day. So be very careful not to burn through those tests before you're ready for the real thing!
